New Content in February
Architecture that enables spaces to change the way we think is on the agenda for Shelter this February...
Louis Kahn's Tiger City
Bangladesh/USA (113 minutes)
Available from February 1.
Art historian and filmmaker, Sundaram Tagore, travels in the footsteps of Louis Kahn to discover how the famed American architect built a daringly modern and monumental parliamentary complex in war-torn Bangladesh.
This very personal fourteen-country odyssey delves into the power of great architecture to embody the highest ideals.
USA/Canada (56 minutes)
Available from February 8.
Travelling along the Pacific Northwest coastline from LA to Vancouver, the film showcases the pioneers of west coast Modernist Architecture, and the homes that have become the legacies of these architects.
Stepping inside the most inspired dwellings along the west coast of North America, we feel how the light and space of a classic Modernist home can work in collaboration with the natural environment.
Room to Improve - season 9
Ireland (5 x 50 minutes)
(Available select territories - excluding Australia - Feb 15)
Architect Dermot Bannon returns with a brand new series of Room To Improve, featuring more of his innovative and contemporary design projects.
As always each build is brought with human and financial drama: Over stressed budgets, last minute changes of heart, unexpected disasters, unpredictable weather and the vagaries of an architect desperately trying to convince his clients that he knows best.
Design vs Build
USA (2 x 20 minutes)
Available from February 22.
One impressive project. Two unique perspectives. Design vs. Build is a new series that explores the differences in how the architect and the builder see a project as it moves from an idea to the construction phase and then a finished structure.
Each episode features a different residential or commercial project with interviews from architects, designers, project managers, and more as they walk you through the project from their point of view.
Future episodes of this unique show are currently in production, we will continue to add more as they become available.
